Chapter 2 - RPG Turn-Based Battle System Part 2 - 11/12/23

Welcome back to my blog! Today I am excited to share the amount of progress I have made for this tech demo. Please watch the video and I hope you guys like it.


From the video, I have create a designed battle scene. I want to the battle scene to feel more like a real RPG game and I thought that having a field area fits the best for a simple battle. Also I have manage to include the models with animations. At the beginning of the battle, the player or the enemy will play their idle animation but when the player or the enemy decides to attack or cast a spell, then the animations will change and play a different animation.


I have also manage to implement that allows the enemy a choice to whatever the it should do a physical attack or cast spell. In more technical terms, I gave the enemy a 1/2 chance to do either of those as the enemy can only perform two different attacks.


And if you watch the video carefully, I have manage to implement whenever the player or the enemy would land a critical hit when performing a physical attack. In more technical terms, I gave the critcal hits a 1/5 chance of happening.
